At Procter Fencing Systems we have extensive experience in sorts ground fencing and therefore understand the many specific requirements it can present. Fencing for sports grounds and sports areas comes in a vast range of styles and patterns to suit different requirements, but in most cases the main fencing material we would use is our heavy duty Procter Duo Mesh. However, the detailed specification of the sports fencing will be determined by factors such as the types of sport/s played, plus proximity to road and houses etc. to ensure balls remain within the confines of the sports area.

Why Procter Duo Mesh is ideal for Sports Grounds
The mesh aperture for this twin-wire type of welded mesh fence is 200mm x
50mm. Twin horizontal wires at each intersection give a rigid but flat
profile, with additional horizontal wires for the lower 1.2m giving a
highly rigid mesh fence and with even and predictable rebound properties
- obviously important in many ball games such as five-a-side football.
As the name suggests, this type of welded mesh fencing is specifically
for sports grounds. It utilises our Duo Mesh but incorporates additional
horizontal wires for the lower 1.2m, with this giving a highly rigid
mesh fence and with even and predictable rebound properties. If the mesh
fencing is used for sports grounds where hockey is played, an
additional 300mm high timber rebound board is also used.

To prevent balls going over the mesh fence, Procter Sports Fencing is
available in heights of up to five metres. If this isn't considered high
enough, we can add 'ball stop netting' taking the total height up to
ten metres.
Posts are made from steel hollow sections and to a specification which
suits the height of the welded mesh fencing and typical usage of the
sports area. Clamp bars are full height as this helps keep the profile
as flat as possible. Finish for both the posts and mesh fencing panels
is galvanised and polyester coated to any one of a wide range of
standard RAL colours. Non-standard colours are also available to match
what's appropriate on the site to be protected.
Alternative materials for Sports ground fencing
Although we typically use our Duo Mesh system as the basic
material for sports fencing, other types of mesh panel and welded mesh
fencing are also available and will be right for some applications. In
all cases though, a site visit from one of Procter Fencing Systems'
highly experienced surveyors will determine both the best material to
use and how the fencing should be customised to ensure it is suitable
for the intended sports.
Customising the fence so it's right for many different sports
Multi Use Games Areas - often called 'MUGAs' IN THE industry - will
typically require a number of additions to ensure the mesh panel fencing
can cope with a variety of sports. Examples of these additions can
include:
- To prevent balls going over the mesh fence, Procter Sports Fencing
is available in heights of up to five metres. If this isn't considered
high enough, we can add 'ball stop netting' taking the total height up
to ten metres.
- If the mesh fencing is used for sports grounds where hockey is
played, an additional 300mm high timber rebound board is also used.
- Other sports-specific elements such as goal fencing can be
installed, and the fence can be designed to form a goal mouth, whilst
still keeping the ball within the confines of the games area. Equally,
the structure can also have fitted to it netball and basketball rings.
